RE Design brought fabrication and Craftsmanship closer to people. Artisan with his masterful hands and traditional techniques are the base of this production, where he is at the same time designer and manufacturer of sustainable, user-friendly products. To sustain a clean, green environment RE Design with its network of Crafters built not only earth-friendly design products but strengthen consciousness about material recycling. Such activities had a wider impact, aiming to empower people to be responsible, to make a change to develop communities as sustainable ones.

Bonart : ARTS & CRAFTS Celebrates The SPRING/SUMMER Edition at Mutuo

Arts&Crafts presents the new trends of this season by artists and designers from the city. Arts&Crafts is a recognition platform for local creation: artists and designers exhibit and sell their products from various disciplines at Mutuo Centro de Arte in Barcelona. The collaborative workshop (from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday) aims to create awareness about the reuse of materials for the creation of new products. Attendees will be able to practice and make their creations, transforming reused materials into bracelets and weaving plastic bags on the new Cubic Loom, developed at Fablab Maastricht by Hadwa Omran. It is essential to bring a plastic bag in order to participate.

Hadwa Omran a vu son projet Re-design récompensé de plusieurs prix internationaux. Basée au Caire, l’équipe regroupe designers, créateurs, experts et étudiants autour de la recherche et du développement d’innovations écologiques. Elle dit : « Je suis venue et j’ai appris beaucoup à FAB10 sur les problèmes que je pourrai rencontrer dans le futur. Ma structure est encore jeune mais je me sens mieux préparée maintenant.

Photonik Campus : Make Light Veranstaltung : European FabLabCon 2013 in Aachen

FabLab participants, students, designers and entrepreneurs presented their projects, ideas and visions. This event showed again how extensive, innovative and interdisciplinary approach is the scene. The highlights of the event were the keynotes of Enrico Dini and Boris Chichkov. Some participants came from as far away as Hadwa Omran from Cairo with the research paper on "Reusability and Sustainable Fabrication".

Archilovers : Plastex SaloneSatellite Award 2013 – 2nd place

Plastex is an eco-friendly fabric made of reused plastic bags and recycled cotton. Plastic bags are collected, sterilized and cut into thin stripes that are integrated into “hand-weaving” techniques and the “handloom”, which is a craft ancient Egyptians used to weave their clothes. Designed to raise awareness about the use of plastic bags, it is inspired by the authenticity of Egypt within which we wanted to make a sustainable change.

The RE Design with Plastex fabric have developed the coating of a stool, a container for recycling and a bag for storage. But other projects are coming soon. Their project has targeted educational objectives for Egypt against abandonment of plastic bags.

“Re design for humanity” at Salone Satellite”

Three young designers from Egypt present Re stool” and “Re waste bin”. The idea was to give a second life to plastic bags by creating innovative, eco-friendly and colourful fabrics made of 100 per cent reused plastic bags. The designers explain that they “collaborate with Egyptian loom craftsmen, aiming to revive the weaving industry in Egypt, empower local communities and provide a sustainable environment”.

بوابه الاهرام : مصر تفوز بالمركز الثانى لأفضل التصميمات بمعرض ميلانو الدولى للأثاث

فازت مصر بجائزة المركز الثانى لأفضل تصميم بمعرض التصيمات المُقام على هامش فعاليات معرض ميلانو الدولى للأثاث، وذلك في أول مشاركة لمصر بالجناح. ويقوم التصميم، الذي قدمته هند رياض وهدوى عمران ومريم حازم، على استخدام المنتجات البلاستيكية والمزج بينها وبين الأخشاب لتصميم منتجات موائمة للبيئة بتكلفة اقتصادية، حيث يستخدم هذا المنتج كبديل للأقمشة فى مجال تنجيد الأثاث.

Dedece : Salone Satellite @ Salone Milan 2013

Second prize went to a trio of designers from Egypt who presented an ancient weaving technique updated to include recycled plastic fibers. From their statement: “Re intends to bring back plastic bags that have been rejected or misused into a new form that is designed innovatively to fit in our life. The focus of innovation lies on material, reusing plastic bags into fabric.”

Every year we visit the Salone Internazionale del Mobile fair in Milan, and every year we save SaloneSatellite—the portion of the fair dedicated to young designers under the age 35—for last. This year marks the 16th iteration of the show, created by Marva Griffin Wilshire, who alongside esteemed judges from around the world welcomed hundreds of entrants and 17 international design schools to display their creations. The theme this year was "Design & Craftsmanship: Together for Industry" and for the fourth year in a row, Griffin Wilshire and her jury presented the SaloneSatellite award to six winners.

Oltre ai grandi designer già affermati da tempo, al Salone del Mobile di Milano espongono anche gli under 35 che sono in cerca di successo. Si trovano negli ultimi padiglioni della Fiera di Rho, precisamente al Salone Satellite. In questo spazio vengono ospitate 17 scuole internazionali di design. Tra i giovani designer esordienti, Tania da Cruz di origini portoghesi ha vinto il “Salone Satellite Award” presentando un sistema di insonorizzazione in sughero. Il secondo posto è di un collettivo egiziano, Re design studio. I terzi classificati sono dei londinesi di Poetic Lab.
